The World Health Authority has recently stated that the Spanish climate is amongst the healthiest in the world. This has led to Spain being home to some of the best beaches in the world, many of them being up to the coveted Blue Flag standard. For those wanting an idyllic beach break, Spanish holiday’s come very highly recommended! Wake up each morning to find a beach that looks as though it has stepped out of a postcard, maintenance staff head out in the early hours of the morning to clean and tend to the sand and remove any traces of litter or debris. Local Authorities are quite competitive when it comes to making sure that their beach is the best in the area. Along with the maintained sand, Spain boasts some of the cleanest waters, with the Mediterranean Sea being an ideal spot for bathers. With so many beaches to choose from it is hard to choose which to visit. Here is a rundown of some of the top beaches to experience during a Spanish holiday.

 

The La Councha beach in San Sebastian is known as one of the best beaches in Spain and across the whole of Europe. With white sands and clear waters it is not hard to see why, the beach is surrounded by a contemporary coastal city which is home to some of the best tapas around. Head to Galicia and relax on the Playa da Las Catedrales beach, the stunning rock formations by the seas are a spectacular sight and a definite must see. The Beaches of Sitges in Catalonia are situated within a well known party town however don’t expect the beaches to be full of empty bottles and cans! Sitges is also well known for its nudist beaches which are isolated from the main areas.

 

There is a wide range of beaches to suit all tastes, from secluded, romantic spots to lively family fun areas. If relaxing on the beach is a main activity during your holiday, Spain is definitely a place to consider visiting. Why settle with just one beach when you can tour the best in the country on a Spanish holiday!
