Short breaks

School holidays provide the best opportunities to take short breaks to a sun kissed isle.

Have your cake and eat it

Families have now started to take full advantage of all the times their children get from school and not just the summer holidays. There is of course the two weeks half term but bank holidays that extend weekends as well as any other allotted time off. These opportunities create the perfect time to take short breaks.

With many European destinations becoming cheaper to travel to it makes more sense to get a hold of a holiday over a long weekend for example. The best places to travel would be located within the Mediterranean Sea as the many islands there enjoy fine weather throughout the year. The Easter holidays for schools are an ideal time to go on short breaks to a beautiful sandy beach and recharge the batteries for all the family.

The Balearic Islands are among the cheapest in the region with the likes of Menorca, Majorca and even Ibiza offering good coastal resorts, all of which will be very quiet during the month of April. The added bonus is that the temperatures will be on the rise during these months with summer just round the corner, and you can expect it to be as hot as 20°C in most resorts. While these areas offer great short breaks they aren’t they only places to head to. Along Spain mainland coast you can enjoy fine family resorts such as Salou or even stay in the amusement and water park of Port Aventura. The Greek Islands offer similar resorts that have great weather and golden beaches, Rhodes and Corfu are both fine examples of this.

You can of course take short breaks over the summer holiday period, but you can expect your short stay to be overcrowded which may result in a less relaxing holiday. Using the mini breaks just before or perhaps after summer when the weather is still really hot but the crowds aren’t as prominent could be the best way to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere with your family.
